You are like a flowing river…

“This is who I am take it or leave it.”

A lot of times we become defensive when somebody points out to our flaws or dislikes us for being who we are.

It’s not wrong to defend your integrity, instead of succumbing to the pressure of moulding with the world. It’s important to have a certain individuality.

Yet we are not who we are as by our definition all the time. We can always change. Usually we look at their current state of affairs and say, “This is who I am.”

That’s not who you are.

That’s who you were.

Let’s say you equate yourself to all the bank balance you have, much like the habits or characteristics you have acquired. But tomorrow when your bank balance changes, can you say that’s who you have always been? If you are flexible to that change, then what makes you feel you can’t change to what’s inside you?

What you have been till now, is the residual outcome of your past thoughts and actions.

When you look at your current state of affairs and define yourself by that, then you doom yourself to have nothing more than the same in future.

You don’t need to succumb to anyone degrading you in who you are but never tell yourself you cannot change. You have in you to even take a new birth in the presence of the divine wisdom. With the alteration of thoughts, when you are able to see life differently, it is like a fresh new birth, a fresh new person. You are like a flowing river, ever changing, ever rejuvenating towards the sea. Never limit yourself to feel you can’t change.
